My Top 5 Favorite 90’s Songs of Girl Bands, Boy Bands and Mixed
February 22, 2011Growing up with 90’s music is one of the best parts of my life. Not that I don’t like the kind of music we have these days, it’s just that - to me, 90’s music was better than what we have presently. I love Justin Beiber but I am more in love with The Moffats - you know what I mean? Anyway, here are my five most favorite songs from the 90’s (girl/boy bands or mixed).
5. I want you to want me- Solid Harmonie
I was so into this song back then. When I listened to it today, I still love it. And I want to dedicate this song to Chris. LOL.
4. Beautiful Life - Ace of Base
I so love Ace of Base! I even had two of their albums back then. I lost my Ace of Base cassette tapes collection though. *sobs* Thank God for YouTube, now I get to dance with this song again. Truly it’s such a beautiful life indeed!
3. Quit Playing Games (with my heart) - Backstreet Boys
Who could not ever like the Backstreet boys? Huh?! Like duh! They’re the Kings of Boybands. I just love this song. I remember back in High School, our boys classmates would just take off their shirts and grind close to us gays with this song! Whew! Now you know why I love this song.
2. On Bended Knee - Boyz II Men
Oh yes! Before we had autotuned singers of today, we had the real thing - Boyz II Men. I’m so glad I grew up listening to them. They are real music.
1. Spice up your life - Spice Girls
I WAS BABY SPICE! awwwwwww! We gays back in High School formed ourselves as Spice Girls. I was the youngest and the cutest among the five of us so I was Emma. LOL. I so love this song. I even had their albums back then, which eventually I lost. Those were cassette tapes and cost me like $2 each. I could still remember the way I felt listening and dancing to this song. It was like dancing to “sinulog” but with spice and in a whole lot different world. I was spicin’ up my life back then, and I am still until now.
I miss the 90’s. I love 90’s music. It was one of the best generations of music! Time flies so fast. I wish I was 15 again!
XOXO

With no words, I speak
With no lies, I felt
And forever, I will not rest.
I made this poem back in 2000, I guess. I made it for someone very special to me back then. I remember I wrote it in a notebook to keep a copy for myself but I lost it. But it’s weird, I have created many poems back then and I have forgotten all of them except this one. I never did create a title for this poem. When I lost my copy, I never created another copy. But after almost 11 years, the same exact words are still perfectly carved in my head. I never tried to forget this poem, but I also never tried to memorize it. I just happen to know it by heart.
The poem is very short but very deep in meaning. It’s very exact but can stab you right into your heart’s content. The poem says it all what it’s trying to make you understand.
EDIT: Haiku is what I call this poem. A Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry, which is relatively short. A big thank you to Frankie Galarrita for refreshing my memory about this.
XOXO
